Caroline Mauxion’s practice is grounded in an embodied crip perspective that interrogates bodily states, the orientation of desire, and the sensory relationship to space. She produces installations that merge photographic works and sculpture. A graduate in photography from the École des Gobelins (France), she holds a Master’s degree in visual and media arts from the Université du Québec à Montréal, where she is currently a doctoral candidate. In 2026, she was selected for the 69th Salon de Montrouge in France and invited to perform at the crip festival « and I will be with you » at the Palais de Tokyo in Paris. Her work has been featured in several solo exhibitions across Quebec and Ontario (including Momenta Biennale d’art contemporain at the Galerie de l’UQAM, Zalucky, VU, Arprim, Projet Casa, Galerie b-312, Galerie Simon Blais, Optica, Caravansérail, and Les Territoires). She is the recipient of the 2026 Impression Prize, awarded in partnership with the Musée Nicéphore Niépce and Ateliers Vortex in France, as well as the Circa-Pauline-Desautels Prize (2023) in Montreal. She has completed artist residencies at the Cité internationale des arts in Paris (2025), Est-Nord-Est in St-Jean-Port-Joli (2021) in Quebec, and the Banff Centre for Arts and Creativity (2017) in Alberta. Her work is represented in institutional collections, including the Musée des Abattoirs de Toulouse (France), the Caisse de dépôt et placement du Québec, the Desjardins collection, the artwork loan collection of the Musée national des beaux-arts du Québec, and the collection of the City of Laval.
